If you’ve been mesmerized by the LG G Flex contours and self-healing powers, you might finally have the chance to get your hands on one. That is, if you’re residing in Asia. LG‘s curved smartphone will be making its first appearance outside the Korean market next week as it starts to make its way to markets around the globe.
Like any the other high-end smartphones, the LG G Flex is gifted with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of data storage space. Unfortunately, it’s display isn’t on the same level as the LG’s G2 flagship. While the G Flex does have a spacious 6-inch screen, it only has a 1280×720 screen resolution.
But of course, the main head turner about this device is its interesting, which is a polite way of saying “odd”, shape, a vertically curved surface. Realizing that might not be enough to sell the contraption, LG is also weighing heavily on the G Flex’s special back cover that, after a brief period of waiting, can make those pesky and ugly scratches disappear like magic.
The G Flex has so far only been available in Korea, with a not insignificant price tag of $950. Last week, however, an invitation to a Hong Kong event pointed to the smartphone landing on other markets. LG is now making it official and will gradually be rolling out the G Flex in other countries. Its first stop will be in Singapore, where the smartphone will be available for pre-order starting December 8. Hong Kong will soon follow on December 13 where the device can be bought from carriers and retailers. Other key markets in Asia will follow suit before the year ends but no information about US availability has been disclosed.
