The Xiaomi Mi 5 is getting a follow-up in the form of the Mi5S. No confirmation yet but a new ‘Mi5S’ rumor was heard recently. The phone is said to be an upgraded version of the flagship that launched earlier this year with a disappointing screen. It may have beaten the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus in a 4-axis OIS shake off test but Xiaomi needs to move fast in making an upgrade before Samsung announces the Note 7 and the S7 edge+.

The Xiaomi Mi5S will still has an audience because of its high specs and yet with an affordable price. This flagship phone from the No. 2 brand in China comes with impressive build quality and the ‘S’ version will even be better with 6GB RAM and probably a dual camera system. Another rumor has it that the phone will feature an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a pressure-sensitive panel.

Take note of the ultrasonic fingerprint reader. It’s a new type of scanner that’s more secure. What’s good about this is that it can “read” your fingerprint even through a thin cover or materials as made possible by an ultrasonic pulse. It’s been designed that way so it’s harder for thieves or simply those prying eyes to get inside your phone. There’s no confirmation yet but expect Xiaomi to make the announcement in the coming days or weeks–probably before end of Summer.
