Samsung Galaxy S6 Active wireless charging

While waiting for the merger of two wireless power groups to finally push the wireless charging technology as a standard, let’s be content with those few smartphone models that support wireless charging. One of the most popular smartphones today that boast of such technology is the Galaxy S6 along with its sibling, S6 edge. There’s even the Captain America’s Shield-themed charging pad that’s something fans will love.

It may take take some time before wireless charging becomes the standard in most smartphones and other mobile devices but it’s getting more support from several groups, carriers, companies, and manufacturers. Aside from the Matters Alliance (PMA) and Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP)’s talk, Mercedes and Qualcomm have also been collaborating on wireless charging for cars and devices. Ikea has already ventured into the business by selling wireless charging furniture in stores. Duracell even showed off a giant wireless charging ring as an add-on to gadgets that don’t have wireless charging capabilities yet.

After the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge, the Galaxy S6 Active is expected to support wireless charging. It’s a more rugged, waterproof version of the premium flagship Android phones and as promised, it also supports PMA and Qi wireless charging. That’s good news for those planning to get an S6 Active but there are rumors going on that Powermat/PMA is not really supported. But then again, Pocketnow website immediately did a test by bringing a Galaxy S6 Active to a Starbucks branch where PMA chargers can be found. The result? The Galaxy S6 Active can be juiced up by the Powermat. This proves that the rumor isn’t true. The S6 Active is very well capable of dual-mode wireless charging.
