HTC One X white version doesn’t mix with blue jeans

When Levi Strauss created the prototype denim trousers over a century ago, he couldn't know that he was making what would be come one of the most popular garments of all time. He also couldn't know that someday people would be cramming Android superphones into them. Flash forward to 2012, and some users of the white version of the HTC One X have found that the blue dye used in their blue jeans seems particularly attracted to the finish on HTC's latest flagship.

Superficial stains can be cleaned with Windex or a similar solution. But since many users (I would assume a majority of them, in fact) keep their phones in the pocket of blue jeans on a regular basis, the dye tends to accrue on the case, especially around the corners and on the edges. There's no way to confirm this, but I'd guess it's a function of the One family's Micro Arc Oxidation finish, since we haven't seen significant dye buildup on other phones.

The black version of the One X and the other phones in the line don't seem to have this problem, or at least it isn't noticeable on them. So if you wear your 501s every day, be sure and pick up the black model. AT&T customers can choose between both models at the moment, though there's no way of telling which retailers have which version in stock. If you've already got a white One X, you could always throw on a case. Or carry around a bottle of Windex.

This is just bumb. Mine has no problem whatsoever with smudging, and i wear jeans almost exclusively. Try washing your cloths dude.

bumb, eh? But seriously, if it attracts dye this easily, something tells me that exposure to typical grime will wear down the appearance over time.

This does not surprise me with a hard matte finish and a white surface. Something tells me it will   accrue much more than dye over the course of its life. It is still a beautiful finish, though it seems to come at the cost of delicacy.

The phone isn’t microxidized.  IT’s polycarbonate plastic.  It would melt during the process if hit with 10000 volts of electricity.

You are thinking of the black One S.

Happened to me with a brand new pair of jeans, but just becareful and wash them first!!  Thank god it was only the case to my note!

Let me get this straight…. the dye from my *JEANS* comes off onto things that touch it… and this is *NOT* the jeans fault???   Huh?

Besides… the insides of all my pockets are white.

… but maybe not the back pocket, which could be a real issue for some.

Unbelievable that there is an article like this, written to scare people away from a brand. This should be titled “white object in my bad pair of jeans”, not “white HTC in blue jeans”

How is that premium build quality working out for you guys? LOL

Obviously had a pair of new jeans on. I learned my lesson long ago when I wore new jeans with white shoes before washing them. I’ve had my white HOX for 2 weeks now, no problem. I imagine I’ll get marks on it here and there, but I kinda expected it when I decided to buy a WHITE phone. Easy to clean off with moist cloth, though.
