YouTube is YouTube. Just like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, we don’t think it will go away any time soon. Google is able to keep it as the top video sharing website today. There may be other alternatives available but YouTube remains as the go-to site when you are bored and have plenty of time to spare. Just recently, the tech giant updated the mobile app and silently added the Autoplay feature and the unskippable 6-second Bumper ads. Material Design UI is currently being tested on some web users while 360-degree video streaming is now possible.
YouTube is said to be working on a feature that will let anyone share videos and discuss within an open chat. Right in YouTube, whether the web version or the app, you can soon be able to chat with a friend. It’s not yet officially announced but a select group of YouTube users are said to be testing the feature and sharing them with friends. The idea is that the YouTubers will be able to chat right away within and without having to go out of YouTube to launch another app.
We’re not sure if this will just be a special feature on YouTube but a YouTube Messenger idea is not bad. We’re thinking something like Facebook and Facebook Messenger. This YouTube Messenger is expected to make conversations easier between two persons or within a group.
YouTube is already working on the idea. The company’s Director of Product Management Shimrit Ben-Yair said the feature was born after a group hypothesized that a more streamlined native way to share videos would result to more sharing. YouTube may be new in the messaging business but it certainly has potential because millions of people use it everyday. There won’t be any problem with getting or building a user base because there are a lot of people on YouTube 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
We’re guessing YouTube wants to make sure that Facebook won’t beat them because as you know, Facebook is quickly evolving. More and more videos are being shared these days from Facebook. Instead of uploading to YouTube directly before sharing on FB, people turn to the social network to upload right away. It’s just one reason but we still believe that YouTube only wants the best for the loyal YouTubers.
