We’ve been talking about the Galaxy Note 5 a lot lately more so because there are numerous rumors, leakers, and renders being shared online. It seems that we’ve forgotten the next-gen Samsung Gear which we already heard will be a round-faced smartwatch and will have a rotating bezel. The SDK was released a couple of months ago giving us more ideas about the next Tizen-powered smartwatch from Samsung.
Another rumor has it that the smartwatch will be called as the Orbis aka Gear A. This Gear A is said to have the following specs: Super AMOLED display, 360 × 360 pixel resolution, 1.2 GHz Exynos 3472 dual-core processor, 450 MHz Mali-400 MP4 GPU, 768MB RAM, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, 4GB built-in storage, a small 250mAh battery. There’s also the standard sensors like heart rate sensor, gyro, barometer, GPS, and accelerometer. As the first round smartphone from the South Korean tech giant, we’re not sure if the bezel ring will have an effect of the screen size.
The Gear A will be the first round smartwatch from Samsung. We’re guessing this will be released at the next Unpacked event. There’s also the possibility of Samsung working with several case makers and artists to design special bands for the smartwatch. We’re excited to know which companies and artists Samsung is partnering with.
As usual, no word on pricing and availability yet but we’re expecting to know more about it when the smartwatch is officially released.
