Kyocera phones are popular for being rugged and ready for rough use but without the high price tag. There aren’t too many Kyocera phones being launched in the market but the Japanese company makes sure at least there’s one new released every quarter. The year started with three: the Kyocera Hydro VIEW, DuraXE, and DuraForce XD. All three phones were offered by Cricket and AT&T. This time, Kyocera is rolling out the DuraForce XD 4G LTE Android phone thru T-Mobile.

The DuraForce XD is the same rugged phone we’ve seen earlier this year. It comes equipped with a 5.7-inch screen, 3700mAh battery, 1.6 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core CPU processor, and a very rugged design. By rugged, we mean it’s OSHA certified so it’s ideal to use even in harsh environments like a construction site, factory, and anywhere with high concentration of elements.

The rugged mobile device will roll out on May 11 at select T-Mobile stores and online. It’s a bit pricey at $449 but you sure are going to get your money’s worth. It’s very durable and Kyocera is reliable when it comes to such devices. This is the first time T-Mobile is offering a ruggedized phone and we know a select target market will appreciate this. Even if you’re not working in a factory or an industrial environment, you can take advantage of the phone’s durability. Maybe you’re a parent with a very young kid–you won”t have to worry if the child suddenly throws your phone.

Still not convinced about the phone? The DuraForce XD won the Outstanding Product Design award in the “Industry, Machinery and Robotics” category. It can withstand harsh elements from extreme temperatures, low pressure, high altitude, rain, shock, drop, dust, and vibration. The phone boasts of a Military Standard 810G-certifation, as well as, an IP68 rating. It can last underwater up to six feet only within 30 minutes.
