We don’t really know what happened to Sony with its Xperia Z4 (in Japan) – or Xperia Z3+ in other markets – and why they suddenly took a low profile when their past flagships, particularly the Xperia Z3, was deemed as one of, if not THE best smartphone around a year before. The Sony Xperia Z4/Z3+ came out with the first iteration of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810, which – whether they admit it or not – has a lot of overheating issues. The overheating thereby causes the phone’s software to start throttling the processor’s speed so that it won’t damage the chip. That comes with a huge dip in performance as well. Some modders have actually taken to using regular kitchen foil to fix the issue.
