We’ve known about the compact tablet counterpart of Sony’s flagship Z3 line since last September, and we definitely like what was launched. With Sony’s stylish design and premium product aesthetics, it’s kinda hard to dislike the products they put out. But we have been waiting for Sony’s announcement on when we can get our hands on the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and we’re glad to say that it has gone up for pre-order via the Sony online store.

There are only a few tablets out there that bring the “wow” factor out of us. Don’t get us wrong, there are a gazillion tablets out there to choose from depending on your budget, but really, only a few are worth spending that cash for in terms of hardware and features. Sony has promised that the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact would be one of those drop-dead gorgeous tablets with features and specs to boot.

The tablet will feature a compact 8-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display – not too big, not too small. Something tells us that Sony gets the size of the tablet bang on. It will be powered by a current gen Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor with Adreno 330 graphics, a generous 3GB of RAM and up to 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 128GB).

One of the biggest draws to the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will probably be the ginormous 4500mAh battery capacity – promising almost all-day usage. The tablet also comes with IP65/68 waterproof rating, which means it can take up to 30 minutes of being submerged under 1.5 meters of fresh water. Lastly, the tablet will also feature the PS4 Remote Play support, for those who want to use the tablet for gaming.

Ok, we’ve built it up enough for you. We need to tell you that you need to pony up USD$499.99 for this baby, get it in either white or a handsome black finish. The tablet’s premium features do demand premium pricing. If you pre-order right now – via the source link – estimated ship date will be by November 2. Are you getting one of these? 1. It’s on my shortlist of Christmas treat. My biggest interest is the weight. Tegra shield tablet and nexus 9 are around the 400 gram mark. The Sony is under 300 grams. It’s super skinny. It looks fantastic. It’s very portable in a bag. I liked the format of the sony ultra, but it’s white background was too dark for my liking. The Sony compact feels like a portable 7 inch tablet. The others are like home tablets, a bit thick and heavy to take everywhere on daily use.

  2. Sony is not clear on their website if the Tablet is 4G LTE or not…
and I don’t want to order it and later find out I cant make any calls from it!
