We were expecting the Compact version would be called the Xperia XZ but as you know by now, it’s simply named as the Xperia X Compact. The Xperia XZ is totally a different model. The smartphone benchmarked by GFXBench before IFA impressed us especially after a quick comparison. The Compact phone from Sony was introduced officially only last week in Berlin but it’s now ready, at least in the UK from the following mobile carriers and retailers: Mobiles.co.uk, Carphone Warehouse, giffgaff, O2, and EE.

The smartphone which is small and very “compact” at only 4.6-inches can be had for free under a monthly plan that won’t go over £30. You can get one unlocked too from Clove, Unlocked Mobiles, or Amazon for only £360 ($480USD).

To review, the Sony Xperia X Compact comes equipped with a 4.6-inch screen, 720p display resolution, 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage, 23MP rear camera with laser autofocus, hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor, and a 2700 mAh battery.

This tiny Android smartphone is expect to go head-to-head with the iPhone SE which is the smaller iOS phone. It won’t battle with the new iPhone 7 and S7 for obvious reasons. The Xperia X Compact’s specs are souped-down from the flagship models but this mid-range phone is good enough for its price. Actually, the price is still a lot of money for a mid-range but it has the same 23MP camera with laser autofocus found on the new Xperia XZ flagship.
