It looks like the rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite will be a real thing soon. Over at the FCC, the low-end tablet has been submitted for certification for use with US networks, giving hints that its reveal date might be coming soon.

Samsung has seemingly relegated the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3, which was announced in April this year, to be the core of a few variations. For example, we recently have the Galaxy Tab 3 Kids edition for, well, kids, and a Hello Kitty edition for fans of the feline franchise. Now we have yet another variation in our hands, but this Galaxy Tab 3 Lite has more questions than answers.

The “Lite” part of the name implies something slightly less powerful, and indeed it is being billed as such. But comparing the rumored specs with the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 that we already know, there isn’t really much of a difference. It has the same 7-inch display with a 1024×600 resolution. Both are also powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. Of course, compared to the more recent 8- and 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 3 models, this is definitely lighter.

Whether or not the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is actually any lighter than its 7-inch namesake, it is, at least, expected to have a lite price tag. The tablet is rumored to sell for $129 when it comes out, which should be a pretty fair price for a rather low-end device from a major manufacturer.
