We may be giving more attention to the Galaxy Note 7 ever since it was launched and most especially after reports of explosion and the recall program but Samsung hasn’t forgotten about the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. Just last week, we said the two would be getting the Grace UX when upgraded to Nougat. They are already being tested for the chunky update. That’s after getting the September security patch. Verizon also released software updates for the phones and now T-Mobile has just released the same.
Specifically, the updates are for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow baseband versions G930TUVU4APIA and G935TUVU4APIA. They include important security updates, time and date updates, plus various system improvements. There’s no Nougat yet but these are in preparation for the next major OS update. Over at Reddit, some people are saying the updates are enabling other features like 4×4 MIMO.
Check Home> Apps> Settings> About device to see if an update is ready. An OTA can be received as well. It’s advisable that you download the update late at night as it might take some time. Make sure phone has enough battery (at least 50%), data connection, or storage space for an uninterrupted download and installation. Update software versions can be sent automatically over the air (OTA) but you can always check manually first.
