It appears that a pre-order date has been set for the Samsung Galaxy Player, aka the Samsung equivalent of, you guessed it, the iPod Touch. This device is based on the Samsung Galaxy S line of phones and will feature a 4-inch Super LCD screen, 1GHz CPU, 3.2 megapixel camera, front facing video camera, T-DMB, GPS, HD video playback, Wifi, Bluetooth, microSD card slot, and a 1200mAh battery.
The pre-release date is set for February 4th in South Korea, and is expected to be replicated in the rest of the world at a date also soon approaching. The release date for this device is an always seems to have been in the middle of February, pointing toward a definite Mobile World Congress 2011 full reveal. You know what that means? It means we’ll be there to show it to you the moment we get our claws on it.

Is this appealing to anyone?
Sure. I might get one for my kid, who isn’t old enough for a phone but loves playing games and videos on mine.
agree.
If I didn’t have enough money to pay $70+ a month for cellphone service, but i still wanted an android device to download apps and play music and whatnot, then yes. same reason i bought an ipod touch when I did. I just wanted a screen that i could carry around.
Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait
Ok I’ll stop spamming… but this. Is. Amazing. I’ll finally be able to dump my *** forsaken iPod touch, from which I am writing this. Just add android 3.0 and this will be amazing.
WAY TO GO SAMSUNG!!!!!!!!
probably you’ll want to add android 2.3 to it, not 3.0
android 3.0 is not coming out for smaller devices?
It’s an operating system made specifically for tablets, so it probably wont be released for smaller devices officially, but you’ll probably be able to load it your device if you want. android for devices will likely continue along the lines of 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 2.10, 2.11, etc
Hopefully this will do the same to the Android market as the iPod touch did to iOS market share
Word up. Maybe. Probably not. but I hope!
Seriously dying to own this device, I’ve waited for months.
Totally waiting for this since it is against my financial religion to pay large monthly charges.
