After months of rumors, leaks, sightings, and early previews, the Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 are now official. The two mid-range Android phones have earlier passed by TENAA and some close up images were shown off a few days ago. We knew that the new Galaxy phones are arriving very soon and Samsung China has just listed the two on its website.
These two phones are highly-anticipated because they are Samsung’s first phones with front-facing LED flash. The Galaxy J5 and J7 are not the first models to have such because the HTC Desire EYE and ASUS ZenFone Selfie also have their front-facing cameras with LED flash. However, these new phones are from Samsung so we know this brand will not fail us.
Both the Galaxy J5 and J7 are equipped with 13 megapixel main camera and 5MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 lens. These are just mid-range phones but the specs are already good enough: 16GB built-in storage,1.5GB RAM, microSD card slot, dual-SIM support, 4G/LTE connectivity. The two will differ on the screen size, processor, and battery with the J7 having a 5.5-inch HD display, 3,000mAh battery, and a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU. Meanwhile, the Galaxy J5 features a 5-inch HD screen, 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, and 2,600mAh battery. The two new Galaxy phones will already run Android 5.1 Lollipop.
As for the pricing, the Galaxy J7 is listed with a 1,798 CNY price tag which is about $290 while the Galaxy J5 is cheaper at 1,398 CNY or $225. You can choose from among the gold, black, or white variants of the Galaxy J5 and J7.
