Over the weekend, Nintendo and Niantic made a lot of people in Asia happy, as Pokémon GO finally went live in 15 more countries in the region. It’s something that fans have been waiting for, despite the well-documented server issues that the developers have been having over the sheer volume of users trying to catch the augmented reality monsters. But Niantic has also admitted that the latest difficulties in catching the Pokémon being experienced by users is due to a bug.

The rollout of the game that has already become a cultural phenomenon in the few, short weeks that it has been available saw the following countries being able to experience the game for themselves: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. Now there are only three more major markets in Asia where it is not available and that is in South Korea, India, and China. Mapping problems are the issue in South Korea, while probably for India and China, the two most populous countries in the world, it’s a matter of server capacity.

Niantic recently announced that they are removing support for 3rd-party apps like Pokévision and the likes and also removing footprints in the “nearby” window, prompting a lot of user complaints and frustration. Now apparently, it’s also been really difficult catching monsters, there is a noticeable reduced accuracy in throwing Pokéballs, and there is a lack of bonus XP. Niantic announced on Twitter that there was a bug that is doing this and to “stay tuned” as they work to fix it.

Since there are millions of people playing the game, we can expect lagging servers and all over the next few days. It’s up to you whether you want to stick it out and wait for Nintendo and Niantic to slowly fix everything or to just give up and go on with your normal life.
