We’ve always expected that the backlash over the hugely successful Pokémon Go would eventually arrive, and it seems like the love affair between the game and some of its fans is already growing cold. The recent decisions made by Nintendo and Niantic angered certain fans and some have said they already successfully requested for refunds for their in-app purchases. That’s because the latest patch involved removing tracking from the game and also restricting the access of 3rd-party apps.

The 3-step glitch prevented players from hunting down nearby Pokémon and so a lot of fans then turned to 3rd-party apps like Pokévision and Poké Radar to be able to look for the little monsters around their area. But now the Pokémon Go team announced on their Facebook page that they are removing the 3-step display because it “did not meet our underlying product goals” and cause confusion among readers. Furthermore, they were restricting access to several 3rd-party apps as they were “interfering” with the quality of servers.

These recent changes cause several users to ask for refunds for the in-app purchases they’ve made and then detailing it on a subreddit on the Pokémon Go thread. Most of them claimed that their IAP wasn’t working as expected, and under the circumstances, this was a good and apparently successful argument for them. And even the idea of getting banned from the game for asking for refunds isn’t that much of an issue for some of the users, reflecting their frustration with Pokémon Go and its developers.

Even though in their official statement they said they are listening to the frustrations from people who live in countries where the game hasn’t launched yet, maybe they should also start listening to already existing users that are fed up with all these problems when all they want to do is go out and hunt for Pokémons. But either way, Brazil looks to be the next target for launch, probably in time for the Rio Olympics.
