Google has yet to launch the two new Nexus phones but we’re open to any Nexus-related stuff like this “Nexus Protect” reference on the Google Store. Not much details have been shared yet but a short note mentioned something about it as a special choice for devices already in the cart.
Some choices on the Google Store would show this particular message:
“You can’t add this phone unless it has the same Nexus Protect choice as other phones in your cart. You can update your choice or purchase this phone in your next order.”
We’re guessing it’s a special option that you ought to choose. It could be some sort of plan protection or extended warranty–we don’t know really. It could be something like the Apple Care. If it is, then Google seems to be improving on customer service or could be simply limiting purchases in the future.
When you buy a phone straight from the Google Store, you may need to get the Nexus Protect to make sure your phone is “protected”. Protection for gadgets can be vague but this one seems to be specific for the Nexus line.
This year, two Nexus devices are expected to be released–one from Huawei and another one from LG. We have a lot of related rumors already but we’re willing to wait for the September 29 tech event and see which of the information we know turn out to be true.
