Images of a red Nexus 5 leaked a short time back. Following up on that we also saw word about how the handset was expected to arrive on February 4th. Well, it looks like the rumors were indeed accurate. A refresh of the Google Play Store now lists the Nexus 5 in three colors including the original black and white as well as the new addition — red.
Similar to the black and white models of the Nexus 5, the “Bright Red” model is available with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage space. The price is $349 for the 16GB model and $399 for the 32GB model. Otherwise, similar to the pricing and storage, the remaining specs are the same as what we had been seeing.
As a refresh, those specs include a 4.95-inch 1920 x 1080 display (at 445 ppi) along with a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 2300 mAh battery and an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization. Of course, the Nexus 5 is also running the latest in terms of Android, which means users will be greeted with Kit Kat.
Touching back on the red coloring. You’ll notice the earpiece on the front of the phone is red, similar to how the earpiece matches the back coloring on the other models. Otherwise, the red covers the back and wraps around the sides. The front then remains black around the display. All said and done, the one piece we have yet to see is whether the red Nexus 5 has a matte finish like the black model, or more of a smooth finish like the white model.
Having said that, those now curious about the Nexus 5 because of the new color may benefit from our earlier hands-on coverage which included an initial hands-on as well as a full review.
That’s cute.
I don’t think that it’s cute, but anyway, I like more white color than red.
