We’re guessing the designers of Music Wrap got the concept from the Trekz Bone Conduction Headphones but really, didn’t we all imagine something like this before? Back in the days when headset cables were annoying, dangling from your old Walkman or MP3 player, most people have this habit of just letting the headphones rest on their shoulders. We’re sure that you’ve done it at least once in your lifetime and wished that sound would be a bit louder–like a speaker.
As for bone conduction, the audio technology has been around for years but it’s only recently that manufacturers are taking advantage of it. Google is believed to use it on the next Google Glass. A Cynaps Bluetooth bone conduction speaker hat was introduced last year. Of course, who could forget the Batband on Kickstarter?
A similar project has just been listed on the crowdfunding website although it doesn’t really use bone conduction tech. Music Wrap is described as a personal sound field that lets you “surround” yourself with music. No need to place earphones directly into your ear so you can have your music fix. Admit it or not, it can be uncomfortable at times and you still want to hear and be aware of what’s happening around you. A nice set of speakers can be enough but sometimes, you just want the hear the music nearer as you walk, run, workout or do your daily activities.
Music Wrap is one innovative device that is transformable and weatherproof with its IPX5-certification. You won’t be disconnected from your surroundings with Music Wrap because sound coming off from the device isn’t overwhelmingly loud. It’s like a headset, portable speaker, and stationary speak in one. It brings audio from your ears to your neck so you will have a personal sound experience but still engaged with the surroundings.
The designers of Music Wrap is trying to raise $20,000 to make this project a reality. With 28 more days to go until deadline, the team has already raised over $5,700 from 114 backers. Feel free to donate as little as a dollar.
Those who will give a minimum of $160 can get four units of Music Wrap. Pledge $125 and get three, $85 to get two, or $45 to get a single unit. An Early Bird Special (Pair Duo) can be availed for only $70 but it’s limited to 100 backers only. Estimated delivery date is July 2016.
