The latest Motorola phones are finally available in the the United States from Verizon and several other retail stores. The Moto Z Force Droid and Moto Z with Moto Mod can now be purchased online and in stores like Costco and Best Buy. The two smartphones are highly anticipated by Motorola fans because of its modular design and the numerous Moto Mod snap-ons and accessories.

With the Moto Mods, you can add a battery pack for extra power or turn the device into a speaker or mini projector. For the fashionistas, change the phone case every time according to your mood and style. These are just some of the developments Motorola is offering but expect more as the company starts offering Moto Mods Development Kits.

The Moto Mods Development Kit (MDK) allows anyone to build programs and products that can be used for the Moto Z phones. Motorola aims to build a whole ecosystem of mobile devices and accessories that can be integrated with one another. The company has also partnered with element14, its manufacturing partner, to turn ideas of developers to reality. Lenovo is willing to invest in projects that will be chosen and approved by the Moto Mod Developer Executive Team. Funding will come from Lenovo Capital so you’re lucky if your concept will pass the judges’ standards.

Moto Mods Development Kit

Before you can develop with the MDK, you need to have a Moto Z phone, obviously. The Moto Z Droid from Verizon is priced at $624 on full retail price or $26 per month with zero downpayment for qualified customers or for 24 months. Meanwhile, the Moto Z Droid Force is $720 or $30/monthly for 24 months and $0 down.
