The much-anticipated Android 5.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge has arrived soon after we saw the preview. It was very much welcomed by owners of the latest flagship phones but unfortunately, some minor bugs were encountered like the toggles missing after the update.

A simple hard reset could fix the problem but Samsung was kind enough to release a quick app fix via the QuickPanel Restore app from the Galaxy Apps Store. It was one proof of great customer service by the South Korean giant.

When the Android 5.1.1 preview was released a few weeks ago, we noted that aside from Guest Mode, RAW support and the ability to set lower ISO levels (up to 50) would be added. These two new features can’t be found easily because they are not accessible from the stock camera app. This is a bit frustrating for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge owners who’ve been waiting for the new features but don’t worry, they still came with the recent update albeit not easily accessible.

The shutter’s speed manual control has been added with this software update. Lowering the ISO value is possible on the camera app but only up to 100. That’s the lowest ISO setting you can use on the premium smartphones but with the recent update, you can now use ISO 50. That’s the lowest you can use on any digital camera and now, a smartphone camera. The S6/S6 edge camera have advanced settings but you can’t easily access them. You can download an app that uses Camera2 API to utilize all of the phone’s new camera features.

It’s a bit ironic that the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s advanced camera features can’t be used from the native camera app but at least we know they are all present and working but using third-party apps. Samsung could be updating the camera app soon, all of which might come with the next software update. We’ll see about that. For now, enjoy RAW support and ISO 50 on your Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge.
