This afternoon we’re getting our first look at the LG Nexus 5 out and in the wild. Well, in the wild aside from the accidentally leaked image from Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat statue unveiling earlier this month. A few videos and a trio of images have leaked, and we’re getting some terrible video and our first solid look in pictures of the front and rear of the new smartphone.

The folks from 9to5Google have some exclusive pictures and videos of the new Nexus, but we aren’t learning anything new quite yet aside from a brief look at the boot screen, and the slightly tweaked lockscreen. The video is extremely brief, like 12 seconds, and the second is 3 seconds long with swearing and loud music.

So far we’re not exactly sure what’s going on here, or what to think of the leak, but it’s clear this is spotted at some sort of party or concert. The leakster claims it was sitting there being charged at a bar unsupervised, and he managed to grab a few pictures and video but couldn’t do much else. We’re not buying that story though.

So far we’ve gathered plenty of details from the leaked video by Google as well as the FCC filing. Which revealed almost everything, so all we need now is for Google to drop an event release date where we’ll get Android 4.4 KitKat and the new LG Nexus 5. If all goes as planned it will sport a 5-inch 1080p HD display, thin LG G2-like bezels, a 13 megapixel OIS camera, and the Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM.

The leak today doesn’t give us anything new, really, but at least we know it is in the wild and coming soon. Get excited folks.

    • I think I will always be partial to holo blue. But having an option built in to change to other color options would be nice. Regardless, I can’t wait for this phone.

  1. I think the back looks… ugly. The front looks nice though! Although not as nice as the G2. I’m going to try to get the G2 as soon as it comes out in Canada 🙂

      • The verizon version, yes. Verizon ruined them for some reason. Every other model of the G2, yes, every model BESIDES the Verizon version has much better buttons on the back.

      • I have the G2 (VZW) sitting right next to me now and I will be the first to say that I’m sick and tired of Verizon always trying to stand out and do a very bad job at it. The Verizon buttons are difficult to get used to although the back buttons on LG’s original rendition of the G2 are very comfortable and useful ~ back buttons are awesome.
