After the LG G5’s big launch, we turned our attention to its “Friends” and saw a number of videos showcasing them. We got confirmation that the lighter SD625 variant would be the G5 SE for other regions. As the lighter version of the flagship phone, the device will have simpler specs and we’re assuming, will be more affordable.

When we discovered the ‘LG G5 SE’ trademark filed by the South Korean tech giant, we thought it was done to make fun of Apple who recently launched the iPhone SE. As it turned out, LG’s SE was just a lighter version of the phone.

The smartphone is real and it’s no longer a rumor. The Russian website of LG revealed information about the LG G5 SE—Quad HD 5.3-inch IPS in-cell touch display, 554ppi pixel density, 16MP and 8MP wide-angle dual camera setup, 8MP selfie shooter, fingerprint sensor on the home button, USB Type C port, 3.5mm jack, loudspeaker, octa-core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 652 chipset, 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage, and a microSD card slot for expansion. Phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow but topped by LG’s own UI.

The LG G5 SE may have lower specs but like the G5, you can also use the Friends and take advantage of its modular design. The G5 SE is thinner and lighter and we’re guessing there’s also the thin metal construction of the body.
