It wasn’t too long ago when China-based brands like Xiaomi, OPPO, and OnePlus made their debut and sounded their challenge to the established order of smartphone manufacturers. These young Chinese companies were aggressive and were willing to sell devices that have the same or almost the same specs as the flagship and high-end devices Samsung, Apple, HTC or LG – and selling them at ridiculously low prices. It looks like we have another new player in LeTV.
A couple of years hence, Xiaomi, OPPO, and OnePlus are now regarded as legit players in the smartphone device industry – putting out alternative options for people who are not willing to spend the premium amounts that the more popular manufacturers demand. LeTV, a company known mostly inside China with services much like YouTube and NetFlix, is now looking to enter the fray – and it looks like the company is packing some serious metal.
LeTV is coming out with three devices – the LeTV One, the LeTV One Pro, and the LeTV Max – all with pretty impressive specs and early benchmark numbers behind them. The first catch – LeTV will be selling these starting at USD$435 for the flagship LeTV One Pro and around USD$270 for the alternative LeTV One. The phablet device LeTV Max is still up for pricing. But what sort of specs are we talking about?
The LeTV One Pro and the LeTV Max will both feature the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, supported by a robust 4GB of RAM and internal storage options from 32GB to 128GB. The LeTV One will feature MediaTek’s new octa-core X10 chipset, very capable at 2.2Ghz speed, with an ample 3GB of RAM. All feature at least 1080p full HD screens, with the higher-end devices having Quad HD screens. They are claiming to be the first devices to come out with sexy bezel-less screens, raining on OPPO’s parade a bit. We wonder what Sharp has to say about that as well.
It is notable that LeTV is able to offer these devices at almost half the price of current flagship devices. More than that, LeTV is calling out these manufacturers by showing consumers a bill of parts – which shows how much each part exactly is. Pretty brave. And did we tell you — these phones are all rocking the new USB Type C ports and standards?
No doubt, the devices look pretty much solid and on point. That said, some tech pundits in China have also called out LeTV for seemingly copying design cues from other brands such as Xiaomi and OPPO. Tell us what you think about these. We’re pretty sure we’ll get some more information as these devices get older.

I swear many of these Chinese companies are ripping off htc’s designs and even the name, LeTV One and LeTV Max, of all names, really =.=
Yeah,from afar they look like Htc’s design…especially the front…
