Now that we were able to compare the Huawei P20 Pro and the upcoming Huawei P30 Pro, we can expect more reports related to the P20 Pro and the Mate 20 Pro will be shared. Most are good news especially since the P20 Pro is the top ranking phone on DxOMark. The new P30 series isn’t due for another three months so allow us to give focus on the Mate 20 Pro as the latest premium flagship from the Chinese tech giant. The phone was announced in October but it’s only this week that Zack Nelson was able to do a teardown analysis.
Just like the P20 Pro, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro offers premium mobile photography features. The cameras easily beat other systems of even the more expensive smartphones.
JerryRigEverything did a durability test. The phone passed the first two tests but there were cracks on top of the screen.
The device didn’t survive the bend test. We noted that it’s because of the very small bezels, the frame may not be very snug.
IFixit did a similar teardown last month and concluded the phone is modular but would require a lot of disassemblies. It’s not that repairable so we know what to expect with Zack Nelson’s teardown.

Nelson reveals that Huawei didn’t use any copper heat pipe. Not even a water-based heat pipe is available. To keep the phone’s temperature low, we see the thermal paste and metal plates do the main work.
