The HTC One (M8) may have finally received the Android 5.0 update but that doesn’t mean AT&T has forgotten about those units still running the older Android version. The mobile carrier recently rolled out the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Those who want Lollipop would have to wait for a bit or upgrade to this version first to receive a number of important performance and security updates.
AT&T started the week by announcing this HTC One (M8) software update yesterday Monday, January 19. Phone is expected to get a boost in battery life, performance of Bluetooth connectivity, and security. AT&T also added a Usage Monitor app so you can keep track of phone data usage.
The company added support for HD Voice in this version of Android KitKat, Copy and Paste camera feature, and AMBS Cloud Messaging Integration. AT&T updated the Ready2Go feature and Visual Voicemail as well for the convenience of the user. AT&T is releasing the Android 4.4.4 KitKat software update over-the-air (OTA) over AT&T’s wireless network.
If you own an HTC One (M8) from the carrier, you should be receiving a notification to update anytime soon. AT&T notes that the update will not count against data usage. However, the company strongly suggests that users back up media files to a computer or an SD card before upgrading to be sure there won’t be any problem with data or settings.

I am using a One M8 that has been unlocked from AT&T. When I navigate to settings > AT&T software update it says I don’t have any updates. My software version is still 4.4.2. Any idea why i cannot see the new update?
Because they pulled the update… I’m stuck on 4.4.2 too
