Last month, HTC showed off the J Butterfly, a monster of a smartphone with a 5-inch screen and impressive hardware under the hood. The J Butterfly that was first shown off was Japan only, with the device coming to the US as the Droid DNA. Now, buyers in China will be able to grad a version of the phone in a couple of weeks. It looks like the International version will be HTC Butterfly with 3G connectivity.
The Butterfly X920e is very similar to the J Butterfly and will be available with China Unicom. The giant device will be available with no contract for ¥4,799, which is about $700 USD. In the US, Verizon has the comparable Droid DNA listed for $599 without a contract, so it looks like the price is going to be increased a little for the Chinese market.
HTC will be selling it in brown, red, and white. It features a 5-inch HD LCD 3 1080p display, a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor and 2GB of RAM. It also comes with 16GB of internal storage space, and a 2020mAh battery to power the beast.
Spec for spec, this phone is nearly the same as the J Butterfly and Droid DNA, just renamed for a new market. The only real noticeable change is the lack of 4G data connectivity. Still, it looks like a fantastic phone, and with the explosion of Android in the Chinese market, it should do very well.
