Gionee is not a popular brand but it’s been trying to come up with interesting handsets that could rival the more in-demand models. This Chinese phone manufacturer has recently introduced the Marathon M3 smartphone that boasts of a 5,000 mAh battery. That is one powerful phone because the highest we’ve seen so far is a 3,900 mAh battery on the DROID Turbo, Moto Maxx, and Huawei Ascend Mate 2.
Specs of the phone includes a 5-inch IPS/OGS Display screen, 1280 x 720 resolution, 8MP camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, WiFi, 3G, FM radio, A-GPS, Blueooth 4.0, digital compass, and a dual SIM card slot. Just like other smartphones, the Gionee Marathon M3 also has various sensors: proximity sensor, G-sensor, E-Compass, and Motion sensor.
Smartphone is powered by a Mediatek 1.3GHz Quad core Cortex A7 processor and 1GB RAM. The Gionee Marathon M3 also has a microSD card slot that can take up to 128GB storage so you can save a lot of songs, videos, and files. Phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. I doubt if you can upgrade to Lollipop when the new OS arrives.
What makes this more interesting is the 5,000 mAh battery that gives a 32.8 days standby time. That’s pretty impressive for a low-priced phone but let’s see how long it will last if connected to 4G or WiFi all the time. But now, do you understand why it’s called a Marathon phone?
