We have seen some serious torture of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. We have seen drop tests of the S6 and the S6 Edge. The S6 was subjected to a fire test and a water test punished the S6 Edge as well as a drop test. What we know from bend tests is that the S6 Edge is about a bendable as the iPhone 6 Plus, but more likely to crack.
The same company that performed some of those other tests on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has conducted a durability test shootout with the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus all participating. The results found that the Galaxy S6 was the most durable of the quartet.
SquareTrade found that the Galaxy S6 was the less bendable of the four devices in the test and was able to survive 110 pounds of pressure. At that same pressure, the S6 Edge cracked and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus bent.
Both the S6 and S6 Edge survived the drop tests with six drops from six feet off the ground. The iPhone 6 Plus broke apart during this same test. All of the phones worked equally as well during a ten-second water dunk. Check out the video to see the test regime in action.
