We’re not really familiar with the brand but we’ve heard a few units from Coolpad in the past like the Max and Max Lite, Rogue, Flo 3G, and Magview 4. A new smartphone was recently launched in India equipped with a 5.5-inch display screen, 3GB RAM, 4G VoLTE support, and an 8MP selfie cam. Officially called as the Coolpad Mega 2.5D, this device enters the market with a very affordable price.

The Rs. 6999 ($US105) Android smartphone boasts of a 2.5D curved glass display, 73% screen-to-body ratio, 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P chipset, 8MP on both rear and front-facing cameras, and LED flash on the main cam. The front shooter is more interesting with the special smart beautification features, making it perfect for the selfie addicts.

The Coolpad Mega 2.5D runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box topped with CoolUI 8.0. Expect 4G LTE connectivity plus support for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) so you can have crisp and clear voice calls over mobile Internet. The 2.5D screen only offers a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution but that’s good enough for a smartphone at that price point. Phone is powered by a 1GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processor, Mali-T720 GPU, 3GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, and microSD card slot.

The camera system is composed of the 8MP autofocus rear camera with a Sony sensor, f/2.2 aperture, and LED Flash plus the 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and 83.6-degrees wide-angle lens. We’re not sure how long the 2500mAh battery will last but this one already has Dual SIM support.

Coolpad Mega 2.5D will be available in White, Black, and Gold. If you’re in India, get one exclusively from Amazon.in beginning August 24 but you can now register for the flash sale. No word if and when this smartphone will be up for purchase in other countries and regions.
