BlackBerry is announcing many good news the past few days. After the video leak of a Priv running Android Marshmallow, we were told that the big platform update will be ready next month. The Beta Program was announced soon after while the monthly Android security update rolled out yesterday. Priv owners now only have to wait for the Android 6.0 to arrive.
If you don’t have a BlackBerry Priv yet but have been hoping that the Canadian company announce a good deal, this is your chance. After launching in 34 countries all over the world and having sold well in its first quarter of launch, the Priv is now listed with a $649 (£529,€729) price tag on ShopBlackBerry. That’s not a limited promo price and it’s now lower than the $720 offer by Verizon.
The Priv’s price has been reduced permanently or at least until the next price drop in the countries mentioned. Unfortunately for Canada and perhaps the other regions, the new price does not apply for unknown reason.
The new price is available in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Spain, and Italy. PRIV accessories can also be availed with a 30% discount.
If you’re still not convinced that the BlackBerry PRIV is THE Android smartphone to buy this season if you’re overly paranoid with mobile privacy, know that it recently won the ‘2016 Red Dot Award for Product Design’. We believe it has one of the best cameras according to DxOMark and is reliable when talking about security and usability.
Honestly, we’re expecting this is just the first of many price cuts. The BlackBerry PRIV is too expensive compared to the latest premium flagship phones but then again, mobile security is BlackBerry’s expertise.
