While it only seems like last month that Verizon Wireless launched their 4G LTE network, today the blazing fast speeds actually had their first birthday. Today Verizon’s 4G LTE turns 1 years old — yay! We look back and remember tearing open that awesome HTC Thunderbolt and giving those lightning and bolting fast 4G speeds a test run.

Today Verizon Wireless has announced the birthday and we are still hopeful they’ll kick off year number two with an announcement of that one device you all might know called the Galaxy Nexus. We all might think they’ve forgotten but actually they haven’t. The official birthday press release they even give us a very short tease and this is what they had to say:

One anxiously awaited GALAXY Nexus smartphone running Android™ 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, from Samsung, coming soon

That was posted in the press release seen here, along with a few more details and confirmation on the Motorola DROID Xyboard tablets. That is all the juicy stuff then they shout off some slightly less important but equally impressive numbers. Launching 1 year ago in 39 markets and around 100 million users were able to take advantage of Verizon Wireless 4G LTE. Today it’s available in over 190 markets serving 200 million users. Pretty impressive in just a years time if you ask me.

Verizon powered on an additional 14 markets last month with 4G LTE and will be launching another round on December 15th and we’ll have all those locations listed shortly. With stats like that does AT&T’s 4G LTE devices like the LG Nitro HD even have a chance? We’d like to say congrats to Verizon Wireless on their 1 year anniversary, and we encourage them to keep things moving strong by announcing that Galaxy Nexus sometime soon.
