Could the Motorola Droid Bionic be the first phone to launch on Verizon with both a dual-core processor and blazing fast 4G LTE on board? From the look of things as of late that might be just what you will all be getting come launch. We originally saw the Bionic at CES 2011 and then closely following it were delay after delay. Recently some benchmarks were leaked showing the Bionic running the qHD screen that has recently been confirmed but also sporting a TI OMAP 4 series CPU and the PowerVR SGX540 GPU.
Now to start off the benchmark does look a little odd. The Nenamark results are showing a score of 24.00 flat across the board, usually there is a min/max score present so this could very well be fake, or it was stopped early but Nenamark got enough to publish a result. Either way we like what we are seeing as far as that PowerVR SGX540 GPU inside.
From looking at these results we can conclude that Motorola may have dropped Tegra 2 for the OMAP 4 CPU instead, this would be a change by Motorola as the Atrix and Droid X2 both sport Tegra 2 CPU’s. This also lines up with similar reports that the Droid 3 will have the same CPU. The Droid 3 is another dual-core device by Verizon that will not launch with 4G LTE according to reports so that same question remains — will the Droid Bionic be the first dual-core 4G LTE for Verizon? If the results above as well as the photo below showing 4G LTE are both accurate then the answer is YES.
