Samsung isn’t putting an end to the Note line. We’ve just seen and got our hands on the Galaxy Note 8. We watched the Galaxy Unpacked event for the second time and understood that the South Korean tech giant is serious about building the Note community once again. There are still the millions of loyal Note consumers who have stayed with the brand despite the Note 7 fiasco.
Koh Dong-jin, mobile chief at Samsung, believes the Galaxy Note 8 is a worthy successor of the Note 7. The Note brand is here to stay and even if there were problems before, Samsung will remain committed to the customers. The company wants to prove that it isn’t all about money but because of other defects–faulty batteries.
When asked about why the Galaxy Note 8 has a smaller battery compared to the previous Note, Koh said users can adjust battery use based on their usage patterns. The 10nm processor used makes battery more efficient by at least 20 percent.
Overall, battery efficiency in most phones is better now. The battery is also safer and can maintain most of its capacity even after a couple of years. At the moment, there is no need to increase battery size or capacity if the present batteries are already efficient and enough.
