Bioware is known more for its epic Dungeons and Dragons-style RPGs, but in a flash of doing something different in 2005, they created Jade Empire. This was to ride on to the hype of the wushu-inspired films of the day, like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers. Too bad it did not earn as much as other Bioware titles, but it was a great RPG in its own right. Now we can all enjoy it again on Android.
Jade Empire: Special Edition is published on Android by Aspyr Games. The game was originally released first to iOS, but is now available on Android as a direct port of the 2005 classic, plus some extras only on the mobile version. Most of you who played the original game will be asking if the game was ported well to mobile, and from the reviews of mobile gamers, we can be sure that it was ported well within what can be expected on mobile.
The gamer requires a device running Android 4.4 or better, but you might need to make sure if your device can handle 3D graphics well. Old game or not, it will still require a graphics chip that can hack the 3D martial arts gameplay of the RPG. Aspyr says that there is over 40 hours of gameplay on Jade Empire SE, so it should be a good trip down nostalgia lane for gamers.
The game is not cheap – you need to pay USD$9.99 for it. But judging from the quality of the port and the long hours of gameplay expected, the price is right about there and will give you a lot of bang for your buck. Download it via the link below.
