Huawei is currently the King of the Chinese mobile market, offering new products left and right. Upcoming on November 3 are two new smartphones, the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. The company also announced the new Kirin 960 processor last week and it’s expected to be installed on the Mate 9 phablets. We’re assuming this SoC is only one of the things that will make the new Mate device “a step ahead” from its contemporaries.
Huawei’s very own chipset will make use of the ARM Mali-G71 GPU plus some eight GPU cores. That’s an upgrade from the quad-core in the 950 series. This one will definitely make the Mate 9 faster with obvious improvements on GPU performance.
Based on the video teaser shared by Huawei on Twitter, the Kirin 960 will bring 180% better graphics performance and 18% improvement in CPU performance. Data transfer speed of the smartphone will be doubled with the new Kirin chipset with Cortex-A73 core on a standard LTE network. Phone will feature a 5.9-inch screen with 1080p resolution and a curved QHD panel on the Pro version. There’s also a dual rear camera with 4x optical zoom by Leica.
Huawei Mate 9 will be expensive at $1,300 for the 6GB and 256GB model. That’s the top-of-the-line variant but you can choose the 4GB RAM with only 64GB or 128GB at a lower cost.
