The Xiaomi Mi Max phablet was launched in India back in July but it was already available in China as early as May. We’ve seen it even before official launch, thanks to teasers and leaks and TENAA certification. We were told it would have a full day battery and we highly anticipated for it. This time, we’ve got not so good news as the latest batch of production yielded some problems when connecting to WiFi.
This isn’t an isolated case as a number of Mi Max owners have shared the the problems and complaints against Xiaomi on the MIUI. Those units sold earlier don’t have any issue–just those sold earlier this August. According to some phone owners, WiFi is saved but is not really connected. We don’t know exactly how many Mi Max Android phones were affected but Xiaomi should respond to this issue even if true or not.
There is no official acknowledgment or statement yet from the Chinese OEM but a Xiaomi spokesperson noted it could be a software issue. If that’s the case, then it can be fixed with a simple OTA update. We’ll look forward to the release, as well as, the new Snapdragon 652-powered phone with 4GB RAM plus 128GB storage variant–all for Rs. 19,999 ($299 USD).
