Europe may have been first to see the ASUS ZenFone Zoom but the new smartphone is now almost ready in Taiwan. Showcased a few months ago at the IFA 2015 in Berlin, the ZenFone Zoom impressed us with the fact that it is more image-centric. This means you can capture the best quality images and videos, thanks to the 13MP main camera that is also capable of 1080p video recording.
The ASUS ZenFone Zoom is powered by a 2.3 GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor and comes equipped with 4G/LTE connectivity and 4GB RAM aside from the 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen, 178-degree viewing angle, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 display, and a 3000mAh battery. There’s also the ASUS BoostMaster technology that allows fast charging–meaning you can charge the batt from zero to about 60% in about 39 minutes.
This ZenFone Zoom is ideal for the mobile photography enthusiasts. If you may remember, Samsung released the Galaxy K Zoom and the Galaxy S4 Zoom last year. Both were targeted for those who want powerful cameras in a smartphone.
The ASUS Zenfone Zoom features optical zoom functions to ensure great quality pictures all the time. Basically, the Zenfone Zoom is the Zenfone 2 Deluxe edition with some changes in specs. There are two variants available that differ in capacity and processor used. You can choose from either an Intel Atom 2.5GHz Z3590 or 2.3GHz Z3580 plus 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.
As for the pricing, the Z3590/128GB version costs $490 which is about TWD 16,000. The Zenfone Zoom Z3580/64GB is a bit cheaper at $430 (€400/TWD 14,000). Five mobile carriers will launch this new smartphone this month. You can choose from either White or Black or wait for the Pink version if you want.
