We only had one reference to the HTC Desire 828 when it was sighted to have received TENAA certification in China. It was actually an ‘HTC Desire 828w’ and almost three months later, HTC finally made an official announcement. The new smartphone from the ailing Taiwanese smartphone maker is within the mid-range category from the popular Desire series.
HTC is now accepting pre-orders for the new Desire 828, a follow-up to the Desire 626 released earlier this year–also a mid-range phone but with a large display. This time, the latest Desire handset boasts of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to ensure super clear photos all the time. The phone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 16GB built-in storage, 2GB RAM, microSD card slot for expansion, MediaTek a MT6753 SoC with octa-core CPU, 13MP rear camera, 5MP selfie camera, 4G LTE connectivity, dual-front stereo speakers, and a 2800mAh battery. HTC offers dual-SIM support so we’re also assuming phone will be available in other markets other than China soon.
The HTC Desire 828 already runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and is topped by HTC Sense 6.0 UI. You can choose from either the gray or white pearl color variant of the smartphone. If you happen to be in China, you can pre-order directly from HTC. Price tag reads ¥1,599 which is about $255.
