As a follow up to last year’s Sonim XP6, Sonim Technologies launched a crowdfunding campaign for the limited edition XP7 Extreme. The smartphone is meant for the active sports market because of its rugged form. The company recently partnered with OptioLabs to bring an upgrade to the XP7.
Sonim has updated the XP7 with OptioCore, a new secure mobile management platform from OptioLabs that makes the smartphone tougher than ever. OptioLabs is known for providing secure mobile technology to companies who need private and secure systems. OptioCore is embedded into the mobile OS so data management and authentication are guaranteed. This data-in-use security totally makes the phone super tough not just against harsh elements but also possible software attacks.
More “rough” specs and features include the following:
• 4820 mAh battery that gives up to 40 hours of talk time
• build that can withstand impact of up to 30g, 5Hz-200Hz-5Hz vibrations, and -5F to + 130F temperatures
• 3-year warranty
• Band Class 14 and commercial carrier chipset
• LMR Replacement solutions
• Push to Talk (PTT)
Sonim Technologies also boasts that the XP7 Secure now features a ‘Defense Grade’ granular level security bringing reliable and strong phone mobile performance. Device exceeds the basic IP and MIL-Spec certifications including an IP69 rating and ISO standards for medical cleaning.
No word on exact availability and pricing but considering the Sonim XP7 costs $750, the XP7 Secure could be a bit more expensive, if not, at the same price point.
