This is big gaming news, as three major players in the gaming industry – Niantic, Nintendo, and Game Freak – all join the Pokemon Company in coming up with a new augmented reality (AR) game called “Pokemon GO”. The game has no relation to the Hitman GO and the upcoming Lara Croft GO puzzle games. Instead, this might just be the Pokemon game we’ve all been waiting for, looking for Pokemon in our neighborhoods and communities and catching them and owning them.
If you’ve been following Android news, then you know who Niantic, Inc. are – they recently went on their own after being under Google’s wing for their initial startup phase. They already have a megahit, megabuck game under their name, and that is the AR game called Ingress. They will be using their AR expertise with Nintendo and Game Freak to build the game.
Nintendo will be developing a wearable called Pokemon Go Plus, which will pair with your smartphone and tell you about happenings in game. More importantly, you can use the wristband to “use a poke ball” in capturing your own Pokemon. Game Freak’s role will be to look at how Pokemon GO can integrate into the other Pokemon games and what other elements can be included in the game. Speaking of elements, check out the video below and see what the game looks like.
This early, the developers are saying that the game will be free to download, with IAPs. There is no specific information yet on the launch, but we’re hearing that the game should launch early 2016. Let us know how excited you are about this game.
