OnePlus is now slowly letting go of the tight reins that it held onto dearly in the purchasing process for the OnePlus One. The China-based outfit who produced one of the standout devices in 2014 is now making the year-old device available through open sales every Tuesday. Yes, it’s true – every Tuesday, people from all over will be able to buy a for real OnePlus One smartphone.

OnePlus says that they’re constantly trying something new, and that the loosening of the grip on the infamous “invite only” system means that the company is maturing and ready to take on new challenges. What we think, though, is that OnePlus is trying to sell off its remaining stock as they build up to the launch of the OnePlus 2 – the rumored second iteration of the phenomenal device.

As the hype for the OnePlus 2 begins, it will get more difficult to sell the OnePlus One – as great a device as it is, it will still be a year older. Granted, there are many out there who would want to cash in on a cheaper 2nd generation phone – maybe that’s why OnePlus is opening up the sales somewhat.

So the OnePlus One – both 16GB Silk White and 64GB Sandstone Black models – will be available for sale every Tuesday starting 8AM London time, which is 12 midnight in Los Angeles, and 4PM in Hong Kong. They even mentioned the “I” word (India) in the blog post, saying that the Tuesday Open Sales also applies to the sub-continent, with people being able to buy from Amazon India as long as stocks are available.
