Samsung Galaxy S5 users who are on AT&T have a new software update for their phones to download and install. The update is a big one and you will have to be on WiFi to download its 142.8MB bulk. The update is available for people to download via FOTA.
In the update are security patches, application installation enhancements, and a fix for an accidental emergency dial issue on the lock screen. The update also brings with it fixes for several lower layer modem crash issues and improvements for sluggish performance in some instances.
Email UX fixes are included along with a fix for S-View cover errors along with improvements to the re-activation lock to round out the new features in the latest update. AT&T recommends that S5 owners back up their devices to SD card or other method before applying the update.
Once the update is finished installing users can verify the update by looking in the About device section of the System category. After the update, the information found there will reflect Android version 4.4.2, Baseband version G900AUCU2ANG3, Kernel version 3.4.0-2178781, and build number KOTH49H G900AUCU2ANG3. I installed the update over 2 hours ago, and my touch screen hasn’t worked since. I can’t even power off or restart my phone, because the touch screen isn’t responding. Is the update just not done installing? Or what should I do?
After the install the lock screen was stuck…pull the battery out.
Seems to fix the issue.
Had the same problem. No touch available and no button function, just pulled the battery out and restarted. Operating fine.
My Galaxy S5 updated this morning even though I requested the update be postponed until I could back up the device. Unfortunately, mine is now locked up as well. Thanks for the battery removal tip.
I have an carrier unlocked tmobile s5 that I’m using for At&t. Am I able to download the new software without mucking up my phone?
