Last night, Google accidentally let loose a Play Store listing for the Nest Thermostat. The connected home company, recently snapped up by Google, now haS their thermostat officially listed in the Play Store. Just in time for Earth Day, you’ll be able to track your energy usage and minimize your carbon footprint — for a price.

The Nest Thermostat doesn’t get any special Play Store pricing. At $249.99, it’s definitely one of the higher priced connected home devices — but perhaps one of the best. Many users claim it cut energy cost drastically, but not everyone is convinced. A recent lawsuit claims Nest products are just plain useless, asking they be removed from the public eye altogether.

An accompanying app lets you track your usage from anywhere, and the NEst Thermostat checks for things like humidity, ambient lighting, near and far field activity in addition to temperature. A lithium ion battery powers the 1.75-inch 320 x 320 display, with Google and Nest claiming it soaks up “less than 0.03kWh per month”.

Are you buying the Nest Thermostat? At $249.99, are you willing and ready to take the connected home plunge? If you are, you may want to snap one up quick. The Play Store isn’t known for keeping items well stocked.
