Samsung has launched the Galaxy NX camera for those in the US. The camera is touted as being one that mixes a professional level experience with the simplicity and familiarity of Android. Basically, that is to say the Galaxy NX is one that provides an interchangeable lens experience while running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Samsung has the Galaxy NX available at this time and priced from $1,599.
Specifically, that $1,599 price point is for the body only. Alternatively, you can shell out $1,699 and get the camera itself along with an 18-55mm lens. Aside from this bundle package, Samsung has said the Galaxy NX is compatible with all of the NX-series lenses which includes a 10mm fisheye lens as well as an 85mm lens.
Some of the camera specific features here include a 20.3 megapixel APS-C sensor. The Galaxy NX is also capable of shooting at 8.6 frames per second and with a shutter speed of 1/6000. Of course, given the camera is running Jelly Bean, that also means some software features as well. In this case that means more than 30 available Smart Modes as well as options for editing.
The camera itself sports a 4.8-inch touchscreen display and is powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz processor with 2GB of RAM. There is also 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and connectivity in the form of WiFi as well as 3G and 4G LTE. Otherwise, we spent a bit of hands-on time with the Galaxy NX shortly after it was announced back in June. A video showing the camera sits below.
