The Sony Xperia Z Ultra arrived for those in the UK earlier in the month. The handset arrived with a few carrier choices, however those in the US did not have the same options available. And while this latest isn’t a handful of US based carrier announcements, it does look like the handset is available for those in the US — provided they are willing to pay.
The handset has recently come available by way of Newegg. They are selling the Sony Xperia Z Ultra unlocked and priced from $699.99. Well, specifically, Newegg has the handset priced at $699.99 for the 3G model and at $729.99 for the LTE model. And on top of that, we are talking about a GSM model which means those in the US will likely be looking towards AT&T and/or T-Mobile as a possible carrier.
Both the 3G and LTE models are available in white, black or purple and at this time they are available for pre-order only. With that in mind, the wait is not going to be all that long. Newegg has the release date listed as being October 14th. And on top of that, those who move forward with a pre-order will qualify for free shipping.
Otherwise, aside from choosing the color and picking whether you want 3G or LTE speeds — the handset will retain the same specs as we saw when Sony offered the official announcement. Basically, that is to say the Xperia Z Ultra will arrive sporting a 6.4-inch Full HD display along with a quad-core 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 3050 mAh battery, 2 megapixel front-facing camera and 8 megapixel rear-facing camera.
Aside from the news of an unlocked version coming available for those in the US, Sony also recently offered a behind the scenes look at the production.
