ViewSonic Announces New Dual-boot Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Windows 7 Tablet

Today ViewSonic has just announced the new ViewPad 10 Pro. We recently saw this back in May running Android 2.2 so it’s nice to see they’ve updated to Gingerbread. A dual-boot Win 7 and Honeycomb tablet would be amazing if you ask me, it’s a shame we aren’t seeing that but I’m sure its next on the list.

The ViewPad 10 Pro is powered by an 1.5GHz Intel Atom processor Z670 (single core), 2GB of RAM, 16GB and 32GB flavors will be available (SSD Hard Drive) all on a 10.1″ 1024×600 resolution display. It will also feature a 1.3 MP front facing camera and a micro SD slot for expanded storage options. While the specs do look quite impressive the slightly lower screen resolution and single core CPU might be the weakest links here in a market flooded with top performing dual-core NVIDIA Android Honeycomb tablets.

The ViewPad 10 Pro will be available with both Windows 7 Professional, and Home Premium. The 32GB ViewPad will be offered with Windows 7 Professional and run an EST $699 while the 16GB flavor will operate under Win 7 Home Premium and will cost slightly less at $599. As a reminder android runs in a virtual environment over Windows 7 on the tablet and will be launched via a single click of the Android OS App but performance should still be plenty fast and stable.

This isn’t the first dual-boot tablet from ViewSonic but it’s nice to see a more updated Android build running here instead of 1.6 like before. More details are available at the full Press Release.
