Verizon Nexus One to get March 23rd debut?

27 February 2010 by Chris Davies

We’ve only just seen it shuttle through the FCC, but according to the latest rumors Verizon’s CDMA version of the Google Nexus One will get its official release on March 23rd.  Neowin’s source – apparently a Google employee who has requested to remain anonymous – claims the carrier will unveil the EVDO Rev.A Nexus One on the first day of CTIA Wireless.

The employee did not have any pricing information, however, either for the outright purchase price of the new Android 2.1 smartphone or for Verizon’s data plan or subsidized costs.  However they apparently confirmed it would be “competitive” with T-Mobile’s prices for the existing GSM model.

  1. T-Mobile & Verizon are in the vanguard on Andrid devices
  2. I might consider switching to the Verizon EVDO version of the Nexus One at some point... they have better 3G coverage and speeds in my area hands down. The most attractive part about switching is that I can simply log in with my Google account on the VZW N1 and my settings and contacts should synch for me. Then I can go to market and easily re-download all my apps!!

*EDIT* : and this may be a silly question... but I am assuming CyanogenMod ROM would work fine on both the GSM and CDMA version of the N1, is this correct or will different radios cause issues?
  3. Why Google has not released anything official for the launch for Verizon?

My girlfriend is due for an upgrade on March 7th, and if N1 comes March 23 to Verizon, it's not big deal to wait a few extra days.

18 days left, and no official announcements.
