Last we heard on the topic of MoDaCo.SWITCH was that it was nearing a beta release. That release hasn’t happened just yet, however it appears as if progress is still being made. Paul O’Brien recently announced that he has begun accepting requests from those looking to test out the first release of MoDaCo.SWITCH.
Those looking to move forward will have to fill out a short signup form. O’Brien is asking some basic questions such as your level of ability, whether you have a custom recovery already installed and whether or not you have S-OFF on your HTC One. There are also a few questions related to your status at MoDaCo.
The key here though, it doesn’t appear as if there are any right or wrong answers. In fact, O’Brien has encouraged those interested to “please answer honestly” because he will be picking “people of varying abilities and devices.” The signup form can be found using the link at the bottom of this post. Otherwise, we have yet to see any timeline as to when these users will be picked and when they will be given something to begin playing with.
Aside from this new invitation to be a beta tester, we recently got a look at what can be expected with MoDaCo.SWITCH (the video is sitting below). Describing this in a simple way, this ROM will allow users to switch back and forth between the stock Sense and the Google Play editions of the HTC One.
MoDaCo.SWITCH is based on the 2.24 European HTC One (Android 4.2.2) and the Google Play edition ROMs. Aside from having both ROMs available for use, another key perk here is that users will only have one set of data to manage. In other words, all of your data and apps will be available regardless of which version you happen to be using at the moment. Anyway, that link is sitting below.
