Earlier rumors were suggesting the LG G3 may be announced in May. While we have yet to hear anything official from LG, we are getting closer to that potential timeframe and that means the rumors should begin picking up. There has been some earlier spec related rumors, but for now we are concentrating on this latest — which suggests the G3 will have a 2K display.

These details were spotted on the Sprint website with reference to the LG-LS990. The LS990 is believed to the the G3. The display looks like it will measure in at 5.5-inches and arrive with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. It also looks like the handset will have a Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor clocking in at 2.3GHz.

Other details include 32GB of storage, a microSD memory card slot (with support for 64GB cards) and Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Finally, the camera setup looks to include a 2 MP front-facing with a 13MP rear-facing. Further details on the camera suggest the front will be able to record 1080p video and the rear will capture images at up to 4160 x 3120.

The list of leaked specs seems to be growing, but they also seem to be lining up with the earlier leaks. After all, we first heard of the display size and resolution for the LG G3 back in December. Of course, the key here, while the LG G3 appear to be shaping up nicely –we do have to remember these are to be considered nothing more than leak and rumor at this point.

  1. Snapdragon 800 doesn’t support 2k resolution. BS leak. The 805 has actually been made to handle 2k screen resolutions. Why would they use the same processor in their new flagship as their old one. Come on guys… At least be creative with your “leaks”.

  2. No matter what, the G3 only be half as cool as the my S5. 2k screen, faster processor, better battery life? Who needs that crap. I use my heart rate scanner like every day.

  3. I’d agree this is just a prototype,
    expected specs at release;
    snapdragon 805 @ 2.5ghz
    3gb dual channel @ 800mhz
    5.5″ 2k screen
    13-20mp rear camera (ois etc)
    2-5mp front camera
    3100+ battery
    I’d also bet on the physical buttons staying in the same place too. I, personally, like it.

    Wouldn’t be much point in releasing it 6 months later than the s5 just to have the same chip set.
    They waited for the 800 to be released while the s4 was stuck on 600.
    I reckon they’ll do the same this time too.
    Everyone stuck on the 801 and they drop the 805.

    • Agreed. And bring it with a 64bit CPU. Or at least a 2.5 ghz /800mhz soc. A 2k display on its own won’t cut it. Learn from the Flex, a really interesting, concept, but needing just a bit more.
